License Platform Compatibility and Connectivity Requirements

License Types and Internet Connectivity Requirements

SonarWiz is commercial software and requires a license key to unlock the software for use. CTI supports 4 license key types:

  • USB - A physical USB key inserted into the machine running SonarWiz. No internet required.

  • Dongle Free License (DFL) - A transferable, soft-lock license. Some internet connectivity is required to refresh and transfer licenses.

  • Network License - A network license server that can serve SonarWiz licenses over a local domain.

  • Evaluation License - A special license used to Evaluate SonarWiz prior to purchase.

The four license types have different platform support, internet requirements and some license types cannot be used for field work (data collection). Please refer to the following table for details:

However, Chesapeake does not test on or support the use of SonarWiz on Apple Macs. SonarWiz DFLs are not tested on and Chesapeake Technology cannot explicitly endorse the use on any of the following virtualization solutions (list intended to be suggestive, not exhaustive):

  • Citrix Hypervisor

  • IBM z/VM

  • Microsoft Hyper-V

  • Oracle Virtualization

  • QEMU

  • Redhat Virtualization

  • VMware Workstation Player

  • VMware Fusion

  • VirtualBox

  • Xen Project
